heatSINK Magazine

Editorial designed for a school project.

Role: Graphic Designer, Art Director, Typography

An editorial project for school. heatSINK magazine focuses on a gamer aesthetic that reports news around the gaming scene.

Rationale
I focused on using subtle lines that related to the subject matter and a more muted colour palette for the editorial spreads, while emphasizing the gamer aesthetic on the menus and covers. This editorial project’s main element focuses on typography, with attention to detail on tracking, leading, and hyphenation.Gaming has long been a part of my life, and I aspire to work in the gaming industry as a creative. To be honest, there aren’t a lot of gaming-inspired magazines, so I took this project as a way to break the mold and create something that reflects something that I am passionate about.

I took different elements of gaming and made a lofi-inspired look for the cover page, while maintaining a legible spread for the body. I used a minimalist style that is a contrast to the typical “gamer aesthetic” while retaining its familiarity.
